Wolf Creek Ski Area contributes to the local and regional communities through a number of programs that include substantially reduced lift and lesson tickets, as well as donated time, materials and manpower to others. As a part of Wolf Creek’s commitment to its special use permit through the US Forest Service, Wolf Creek has offered skiing at affordable rates to ensure the public’s recreational use of the Wolf Creek Ski Area in the beautiful San Juan Mountains.

Regional and Local Projects include:

Providing the Cross Country track at the base of Wolf Creek Ski Area. The track is a 10 km loop and is groomed on a regular basis. There is no fee to use this amenity and it is currently very popular to the skate skiers, classic cross country skiers and people who enjoy snow-shoeing.

Wolf Creek hosts the Free Fun Race Series each winter with a full schedule of races and prizes at no additional cost to the skiing public.

Skiers/Boarders who are over 80 years of age ski free.

Wolf Creek offers military discounts for active members of the United States military and their spouses and children who bring their US military ID cards. This program is extremely popular and has increased in size each season.

Wolf Creek has hosted the US Freestyle Team four times, most recently in 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 seasons by providing free lift tickets, on-mountain services, and breakfast and lunch for coaches and ski team members during the early part of November.

Wolf Creek Ski Area is a major contributor to the Creede School Endowment Foundation. During the 2015-2016, Wolf Creek donated $9,000.00 to the foundation and over $126,000.00 since 2005. The foundation provides college scholarship funds to graduating high school students in Creede. Wolf Creek is located in Mineral County and recognizes the importance of educational opportunities for local students.

Wolf Creek Ski Area has donated to the Santa Fe Community Foundation through the Dollars 4 Schools Program and also through the Vidal Gutierrez Golf Fundraiser, for a combined total of over $10,000.00.

Wolf Creek donated $500.00 to the Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust which promotes sustainable agricultural throughout the San Luis Valley with the use of land and water conservation.

The San Juan River Project in Pagosa Springs: Wolf Creek has donated over $3,500.00 in skilled man-hours and the use of its heavy equipment during the 2015-2016 season. This project has been on-going for the past eight years and Wolf Creek has donated over $54,000.00 during that time. Along with rafters, kayakers and fisherman, the river attracts locals and tourists all summer long. Wolf Creek has also participated in the Animas River Project in Durango as well.

Wolf Creek donated the heavy equipment and skilled labor while making a soccer field for the Pagosa Springs High School.

Contributions were made to the San Luis Valley Play Park at the Elementary School in Monte Vista for playground equipment.

Grooming equipment, (snow-cat with implement) were donated along with skis, boots and poles to the Lake City Ski Hill.

Annual food and beverage contributions are made to the San Luis Valley food banks.

La Puente is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Colorado's San Luis Valley by providing food, shelter, and advocacy for the homeless and community members in crisis. In the past 2 years, Wolf Creek Ski Area has donated over $15,000.00 in addition of food to help La Puente reduce the number of homeless individuals in the San Luis Valley through their Share the Magic Program.

Contributions were made to the Pagosa Mountain Hospital in Pagosa Springs, CO.

Wolf Creek Ski Area hosts a United Way Day each January and donates a portion of each lift ticket sold to the United Way Foundation. In 2017, Wolf Creek donated $3,807.00 to United Way.

Wolf Creek Ski Area has been one of the largest contributors to the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Search and Rescue for the past several years, with $3,748.00 in contributions during the 2016-2017 ski season and over $18,300.00 since 2012. Wolf Creek is highly motivated to support the communities of the surrounding counties. This summer, season passes were donated to raise money for the local Search and Rescue divisions.

Wolf Creek provides complimentary lift tickets for a number of fundraising organizations; tickets are awarded based on needs.

Local Programs at Wolf Creek Ski Area that offer significant ticketing discounts include:

• Local Appreciation Day; 12 days offered this season. Everyone is invited to take advantage of the substantial discount. Proof of local residence is not required.
  
• College Day; 8 days offered this season to students who show a current college photo ID AND printed class schedule.
• The School Program: Elementary, middle and high school students are offered a $20.00 program, which includes lift ticket, lessons and ski rentals. Each school is awarded scholarships to 30 percent all participants.
• Family Day: For $15.00, immediate family members of a School Program participant get a lift ticket, two hour group lesson and free ski rental.
• Gray Wolves, a local social club offers many activities including skiing in the area. Wolf Creek Ski Area has honored this club with special pricing for members who have signed up prior to August 15^th of each year.
• Pre-Season Pass Sale; avid skiers and boarders take advantage and save 25% off of regular season rates.
