On-mountain devices

Devices Allowed, Restricted and Not Permitted

Per the Colorado Ski Safety Act: Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely. If you need assistance, ask the lift attendant.

Per the Your Responsibility Code: You must prevent runaway equipment.

Wolf Creek Ski Area requires devices on the mountain to have metal edges. 
NO motorized, electric assist or powered devices are permitted on-mountain at Wolf Creek Ski Area.

Skis & Snowboards

Allowed with a retention device. Must have metal edges.

Telemark, AT & Randonee Skis

Allowed with a retention device, including those with quick-release tele-bindings. Must have metal edges.

Snowblades & Boot Skis

Allowed with a retention device and lanyard. Must have metal edges.

Monoskis

Allowed with a retention device. Must have metal edges.

Adaptive Equipment

Adaptive equipment allowed but limited to: sitski, mono-ski, dual-ski, bi-ski, slider, outriggers, tethers, and ski tip and tail retention type devices.
Any other devices must be approved by the senior management of the National Sports Center for the Disabled and/or Wolf Creek Ski Area.

Mandatory Specific Requirements & Approval Prior to Arrival

Wolf Creek Ski Area is committed to allowing ski bikes for verified medical conditions. Those who have a medical need to use a ski bike should be good, positive ambassadors for adaptive ski biking. Non-verified medical reasons do not constitute the need for an adaptive ski bike or device, and recreational ski biking is prohibited at Wolf Creek Ski Area. We are understanding and supportive of verified medical adaptive skiers, but behavior should reflect that.

Ski Bikes (with Foot Skis or Pegs) for Adaptive Skiers

Requirements:
*Adaptive skiers must submit a written request that includes a letter from a healthcare provider supporting their request and articulating the medical reasons behind their request.
*If the request is approved, the adaptive skier will only be allowed access to detachable lifts: Raven, Charity Jane & Treasure Stoke.
*Bikes must be manufactured for adaptive skiers and be an adaptive device. Bikes must be Type 1 or 2 that have 2 or 3 skis with metal edges. The bike must also be designed to load the chairlift without slowing or stopping. 
*The bike must be able to fall over if separated from the rider AND have a leash/lanyard that the adaptive skier wears.
*Only 1 rider per bike.

Trikes (Stand-up Ski Bike or Type 3) for Adaptive Skiers

Requirements:
*Adaptive skiers must submit a written request that includes a letter from a healthcare provider supporting their request and articulating the medical reasons behind their request.
*If the request is approved, the adaptive skier will only be allowed access to detachable lifts: Raven, Charity Jane & Treasure Stoke.
*Bikes must be manufactured for adaptive skiers and be an adaptive device. The trike must have metal edges. The bike must also be designed to load the chairlift without slowing or stopping. 
*The bike must be able to fall over if separated from the rider AND have a leash/lanyard that the adaptive skier wears.
*Only 1 rider per bike.

Snowdecks & Snowskates

Requirements:
*ONLY allowed on chairlift if attached to the rider’s feet to prevent the device from falling off, in addition to having a lanyard to prevent runaway equipment.
*Snowdeck must have metal edges and a retention device.
*Recommended to use on high-speed detachable lifts only.

Snowshoes

*NOT allowed on chairlifts.
*$5 Annual Uphill Pass and Liability Waiver Required
*Uphill Access is only permitted during lift operating hours on the right side of Kelly Boyce run or as stated on the Uphill Policy.
*Permitted without restrictions on the Nordic Loops.
**Use the Buddy System as the area is not patrolled.
**Allow time to complete your tour before dark.

Cross Country Skis

*NOT allowed on chairlifts.
*Permitted without restrictions on the Nordic Loops.
**Use the Buddy System as the area is not patrolled.
**Allow time to complete your tour before dark.

Snow Boots & Yak Trax/Boot Traction Devices

*NOT allowed on chairlifts.

Strictly Prohibited

Tubes, Sleds, Discs & Toboggans

Plastic Snowboards

Plastic snowboards or skis without metal edges are NOT PERMITTED at Wolf Creek Ski Area.

Snow Scooters

Bicycle Conversion Snowbikes

Fat Tire Bikes

Tandem

Each skiers/snowboarder must have their own equipment.

ALL OTHER DEVICES

The senior management of Wolf Creek Ski Area must approve any other devices.

Normally lifts are open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; however there are periods of time when this schedule does not apply. The public may see lifts opening at 9:00 a.m. early season or during a big storm cycle.
