Skiing is more fun when you ski with caution and in control

Slow skiing zones have been established in areas of merging trails and designated beginner runs. Wolf Creek Ski Area is concerned about the safety of skiers using the mountain. Fast, reckless, or out-of-control skiers or snowboarders will lose their lift tickets and be asked to leave the mountain.

Skiers' and Snowboarders' Responsibilities
Skiing and snowboarding can be HAZARDOUS. The Colorado Legislature, recognizing the dangers and risks inherent to the sport, has seen fit to amend the Ski Safety Act to provide as follows:

WARNING: Under Colorado law, a skier assumes the risk of any injury to person or property resulting from any of the inherent dangers and risks of skiing and may not recover from any ski operator for any injury resulting from any conditions; existing and changing snow conditions; bare spots; rocks; stumps; trees; collisions with natural objects, man-made objects, or other skiers; variations in terrain; and the failure of skiers to ski within their own abilities.

NOTICE: Members of the Wolf Creek Ski Patrol or other ski area representatives may revoke lift tickets if the skier/snowboarder skis/boards in unauthorized areas, commits any act on the slopes that endangers himself or others, or exhibits behavior deemed unacceptable by ski area management.

SKIERS AND RIDERS SHOULD BE ADVISED THAT A GREEN CIRCLE, BLUE SQUARE OR BLACK DIAMOND TRAIL AT YOUR AREA IS NOT NECESSARILY THE SAME AS A SIMILARLY RATED TRAIL AT ANOTHER AREA. THE SYSTEM IS A RELATIVE SYSTEM THAT IS VALID ONLY AT THIS AREA. SKIERS AND RIDERS SHOULD WORK THEIR WAY UP, BEGINNING WITH THE EASIEST TRAILS NO MATTER WHAT THEIR ABILITY LEVEL MAY BE, UNTIL THEY ARE FAMILIAR WITH THE TRAILS AT THE AREA.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY CODE

  1. Always ski in control and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
  2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
  3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.
  4. Whenever starting downhill or merging onto a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
  5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
  6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

Signs and Boundaries
Please observe and respect all "Closed" "Avalanche Area" "Ski Area Boundary" and all other closures. Closure violators may be subject to prosecution! A more detailed "Boundary Management Plan" is posted throughout the base area.

Four back country access gates are located on top of Wolf Creek's ridge line, refer to trail map for locations.
