Full-time paid positions are available for the 2015-2016 ski season. Starting pay is $11-14/hour depending on experience, with considerations for merit-based wage increases. Primary duties include maintaining a safe skiing environment in accordance with the Colorado Ski Safety Act, providing guests with medical assistance, performing mountain rescue and conducting Avalanche Hazard Reduction operations. Qualified individuals must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and possess current Colorado EMT and CPR certificates. Previous patrolling experience, while beneficial, is not required. All applicants must show a strong skiing ability, the desire to work in a dynamic and often stressful environment and a willingness to learn through our established training program. Upon receipt of an application, the evaluation process consists of a personal interview and an assessment of EMT skills with written and practical examinations. The employment application is used as the primary means of recruiting new staff. Applications are accepted for all departments, all season long. When a department has an opening, the department supervisors select candidates from the applications on file. Therefore, completing and submitting an application is crucial. Please list by number (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) choices next to the departments. This helps us in choosing outside jobs for people who enjoy being outside or inside jobs for those who prefer working indoors.

After completing two weeks of satisfactory work, an employee season pass may be issued, enabling use of the ski area lifts. Full-time employees can use their pass whenever not scheduled for work, while part-time employees must obtain consent from their supervisor before using their pass. Full-time employees may also be issued one complimentary lift ticket for use by family or friends, after February 1st, of their first season. A full-time employee must be working a minimum of 3 days a week to qualify for this privilege. All full-time employees receive a 25% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages while in uniform. All full-time employees will also receive a 25% discount in Treasure Sports on select items. Part-time employees must commit to working holiday periods including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, Presidents’ Day weekend and MLK, Jr. weekend.
Because of Wolf Creek’s small size, we currently do not offer any type of employee housing or transportation. As such, prospective employees are responsible for securing their own housing and reliable transportation. The nearest housing sits at the base of Wolf Creek Pass either in Pagosa Springs (23 miles to the West) or South Fork (18 miles to the East).
Wolf Creek cannot currently sponsor any work visas for foreign applicants. If you are already authorized to work in the U.S. and feel you can secure your own housing and transportation, we encourage you to apply via our application process.
